Delivery #22

Now to hit our other closest neighbors. They are in a different stage in their lives (IE don't have little kids) so they are not out searching the neighborhood for their brood every night like the rest of us. Thus, we don't see much of them. But when we do they are always so kind and sweet.
Kai and Cannon made this delivery. This is a good team, they deliver with equal gusto...so cute.
Hope you enjoy!

Sugar Sugar!

We cleaned out a shelf in the pantry today and it happened to be the shelf that holds all the sprinkles and colored sugar so the kiddos were obsessed. We chose sugar cookies as the medium for our sprinkle party. Then they got distracted and started playing war with the sprinkles.

Viv mixing (still can't find our mixer attachment).

Roll cookie dough in colored sugar.

Kai watching them bake.

The orange ones ended up being perfect little Jack-o-lanterns.

Easy Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

Delivery #21

This delivery was to a momma friend of mine who I don't get to see often any more but still think she in one of the neatest gals around. We both went to a girls' retreat a few weeks ago and decided that we are going to go back to school together and get our Psych Masters Degrees in a couple of years. Fun huh! Just wanted to know I still think she is great even if we don't chat often.
Delivery was fun as this was the first Under Four Year Old delivery team. Kai was in charge of the camera. Viv got a little excited and rang the doorbell before we got Kai strapped back in his seat so we all panicked but all was well, we weren't discovered.
Enjoy!

Mom's choice

Smith's had crushed Heath bars for baking on sale...I LOVE them, so we stocked up. The recipe on the back of the package looked awesome Peanut Butter Toffee Cookies. A bit of a major Flour Fehry misplace - we cannot find the attachment to our KitchenAid, my guess is someone was licking the beater and hide it somewhere. But in the mean time we tried out the Magic Bullet as our cream the butter and sugar tool.

Egg Crack Queen

We ran out of peanut butter so we used some almond butter too, next time I bet they would be so good with just almond butter.

This looks cute and funny but he actually wouldn't give us the package and we got into a bit of a tugging fight that ended in one of us sitting the rest of the baking session in his room.

We got a new oven mitt for Halloween, can you believe all the baking we do and I don't own a decent adult sized oven mitt (we have a bazillion kids ones but I can't even fit my thumb in them).

YUM!!! We will make these again!

Here is the recipe

Delivery #20 Wooooowoooo 20% of our goal!

The timing on this delivery may seem suspicious as these fav neighbors are considering selling their home and we'd prefer they stay ;) but actually it was all about proximity...wanted the waffles to be hot off the griddle! These neighbors built their home about a year after us. They have soon-to-be 5 kids nearly the same ages as ours (although when they moved in we both only had 3 kiddos) and they all get along amazingly well. We've kind of turned our yards into one big neighborhood playland(although their yard is way more fun than ours). Their kiddos are always respectful and especially good about helping out all the littler guys. They are exactly the "send a kid over to borrow a cup of sugar" kind of neighbors that make a real neighborhood.
Cannon and Viv ran up and made this delivery. Viv was very upset that she was caught. I asked her who saw her and she said "It was the dog, you don't think he'll tell do you?"

Breakfast Fehries

We usually have regular waffles on Sunday morning but a friend posted a recipe for Brownie Waffles on her Facebook page the other day and we HAD to try them (she is a well known chocolate lover so we knew we could count on her for a super recipe). The recipe makes a lot so it was the perfect thing to share.
Cashel's first time using the microwave!

Separating the eggs, this is usually Viv's job but she was still sleeping.

Well, speak of the devil...Viv is up!

Pouring in the melted chocolate.

A minor disagreement over who gets to lick the chocolate bowl.

Brownie batter in the waffle maker...Genius!

OH MY! Topped with Butterfingers's ice cream. Can we ever go back to regular waffles again. A little hot fudge on top would have been divine but we didn't have any....there is always next time!

Coralee's Brownie Waffles
1 12-oz pkg chocolate chips
1 1/2 c milk
1 c butter/margarine
...4 egg yolks, 4 egg whites
2/3 c sugar
3 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c nuts, opt (I never add them due to allergies)

Melt chocolate chips, milk and butter. I microwave for about 2 min and stir, then about 30 seconds more until they're melted. It shouldn't be hot, just melted. Beat egg yolks until lemon colored and add to not-hot chocolate mix (they will cook if it's too hot). Whisk together sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Blend chocolate mix and dry mix together. Finally, whip egg whites until stiff and fold into batter. This should be done right before cooking so if I'm going to wait to cook, I will keep them separate until I'm ready. Heat your waffle maker and cook like regular waffles. We use both Belgian and regular waffle irons. Serve with fruit, whipped cream and/or ice cream. This is the doubled recipe; we usually make this and freeze any leftovers if you're lucky enough to have them. Leftovers reheat to perfection by just toasting them in your toaster. Enjoy!

Delivery #19 - Mom got caught again

I'm no good at this! The kids never get caught, I get caught every time.
This was Cashel's delivery, he chose his teacher. He is having a great first grade year thanks to his awesome teacher. She was also Cannon's teacher when he was in first grade and he loved her too. She is especially good at seeing kids as individuals with their own set of talents as weaknesses. There is nothing more endearing to a mom than to find someone who sees your child as special and unique in the way you do. Cashel has bloomed this year and loves everything about school and learning. We are so lucky to attend such a great school who values having great teachers. THANKS!
Now for the lame delivery. We had it all planned that I would deliver it to the classroom last night because we had math night at the school but the brownies weren't quite ready so I took them today before volunteering. I think I'll leave delivery to the kids from now on.
